The bars may be of circular or non-circular section (see Figs. 5 to 10, not shown) and may be located in circular apertures 2 in the joint member by centring pieces which may be in two parts (Figs. 6, 7, not shown). Reinforcement 5, 6 may be provided in the joint member to which it is secured and which may be provided with grout keying members 3, 4. The aperture 7 in the joint member may be used as a filling hole. If ordinary concrete grout is used it is injected into the joint member under pressure. Plasticsbased grout may be such as to expand on hardening or to require heating whereupon the joint member 1 contracts on cooling. Reference is made to the use of epoxy-resin based grout and grouts formed by glass fibre-reinforced plastics material, asbestos-reinforced concrete mortar and concrete mortar containing metal, e.g. granular steel. |
