1488885 Knitting machines F LONATI E LONATI T LONATI F LONATI [trading as COSTRUZIONI MECCANICHE LONATI DI LONATI FRANCESCO & FIGLI ETTORE FAUSTO TIBERIO Snc 10 Oct 1974 [12 Oct 1973] 44014/74 Heading D1C The loose end piece of yarn formed when beginning a stocking on a double cylinder knitting machine is removed automatically when knitting the first course by taking up yarn 8 in all the lower cylinder needles while holding the yarn in sinkers 11, raising a first group of needles 5 so that the yarn clears their latches, lowering a following needle or needles 6 beyond the normal lowest needle position to effect tearing of the yarn and then lowering again the needles 5 with the yarn disengaged therefrom and removing the broken yarn end piece e.g. by suction. The needles 5 and 6 are then raised again to take fresh yarn. The needles have corresponding jacks, the jack(s) 6' having longer butts to engage a cam for lowering the needle(s) 6 to cutting position while a bolt cam raises only the needles 5 to clear the yarn. |
