In a coke oven battery the heating walls are subdivided into rows of heating flues alternating with oven chambers, the contents of which are heated uniformly in respect of height by controlling the combustion in the flues. Using baffles, bricks, sliders etc. which act on the various heating flues of each heating wall. The amt. of heating gas supplied in unit time is adjusted to provide a carbonisation time corresp. to a high prodn rate for the battery. The method of application of the flames in the heating flues as well as the position of the various control element as maintained above are kep unaltered when the carbonisation time is increased, but the lesser heat requirements are taken into account by introducing an interruption into each half cycle of regeneration. System provides a much simpler and more rapid method of altering the carbonisation time while maintaining complete uniformity of heating throughout the oven chamber, than the usual method of altering the rate of feed of heating gas and the position of the control elements for air, combustion gases etc, which can take several weeks. |
