Starting up spinning from the melt - automatically by suction guide mechanism, bundling filaments and shearing off waste

The spinning of synthetic yarns from the melt is started up automatically by feeding the filaments falling down a shaft, into a collector having, for pref. the form of a funnel. From the funnel the filament are drawn along a tube so that in the delivery shaft they are put under tension. On the receipt of a signal, the collector is moved sideways, to bundle the filaments at a point where the yarn has already begun to form. The thread is then cut, taken over by a suction arrangement moved together with the shear and drawn from the spinning shaft along the suction tube. The shear and the suction device move simultaneously, the thread being chopped through by a hammer striking a block on the funnel. The suction device is finally moved from its holder.
