The sensor system is used for mines when mining flowing rivers. The mines have a battery powered initiation system released by an object which reaches the vicinity of the sensing region of the mine. The sensor ensures tactical action of the mines of this kind under all circumstances. The circuit has passive and active signals receivers. A passive signal receiver in the form of alarm sensor transmits a signal for activating the active signal receiver, which is in the form of a locating sensor. The initiation signal is produced by this system. The passive signal receiver generates a magnetic field for producing a signal when the field is distorted by the arrival of an object. The locating sensor is an ultrasonic echo sensor with the integrating travelling time measurement device set at a fixed pulse sequence frequency.
