The adjustable clip is particularly for securing the lids of glove compartments on motor vehicles. A length of steel wire (1) is rolled into a spiral to form two parallel arms (2, 3). These are secured to a mounting using a stud hole and a stirrup type nut (8). The mounting can be an angle-piece one arm carrying the clip, and the other having a stud-hole (9) allowing it to slide on a support, also axial guide portions (10), typically formed by raised edges. The design allows any clearances occurring during assembly of the bodywork to be easily taken up.
