Ashtray with closing flaps - has flaps guided in curved slots between both halves and operated by part rotation of top relative to base

The ashtray is closed by three flaps which pivot horizontally inwards from the sides. It comprises a weighted bowl-shaped base (4, 24) its top surface flat and having inward curving slots. The upper half (7, 22) has a central aperture and its bottom surface is also flat. Each flap (5) is attached to the upper face by a pivot (23), guided in a slot in the flat surface. The flaps are in the shape of a bill hook, the handle forming the pivot. By part rotation of the top relative to the base, the flaps open or close, to meet at the centre on a peg.
