Forming coloured embossed patterns on fabric - by passage with dye coated web through roll nip including an embossed roll

A textile fabric is embossed to produce a profiled pattern and is simultaneously printed to produce a coloured pattern by being fed with a transfer sheet through e.g. a nip including an embossing roll and a presser roll. The transfer sheet is coated with an evaporable or sublimable dye which under heat (e.g. 180-260 degrees C) is transferred onto the textile fabric as they pass together through the nip. A variety of coloured embossed patterns on a textile fabric (e.g. synthetic) can be easily produced. The method is used partic. for printing, acrylic, polyester or tri-acetate fabrics, but may be also used for fabrics of natural fibre.
