A hobbing gear cutter carries a pulse controlled setting motor. At a cutting cycle's completion an energized relay and generator pulse-feed the motor and a counter. The hob moves axially on a slide, during a count-down between cycles. Another relay resets the counter. Axial setting distributes cutting edges engagement for longer cutter life. The reversible stepping motor shaft (18) worm (19) wheel (20) and gears (26, 27) drives the hob's (13) slide (32) nut (31), when the worm wheel is lever (25) and coupling (22, 24) engaged on its shaft (23). Alternative push button control includes motor reversal for hob resetting. Hand turn-key actuation is retained.
|
