A sheet-like textile material, in particular a nonwoven, containing bicomponenent (two-component) fibres, in which one of the components takes up at least a portion of the outer surface of the fibre and has a lower softening point than the other component, is brought into contact with a transfer sheet coated with at least one sublimation-transferable dye. The sandwich-like structure thus obtained, which consists of the sheet-like textile material and the transfer sheet lying thereupon and being further transported together therewith, is exposed in surface areas separated from one another to pressure and heat in such a manner that the dye(s) is or are transferred to the textile material at least in these areas and consolidation of the textile material by fibre interbonding takes place exactly there. Surprisingly, it is also possible to use disperse dyes of low sublimability, which are unsuitable for conventional transfer printing processes. Nevertheless, only extremely short residence times are required for transfer of the dye. Residence times of as short as less than 1 s are completely sufficient. |
