The control device is used to match the pressure of the compressed air at a bubble grating, arranged in a bathtub containing water, of a bubble-bath massage unit to the static counterpressure of the water. For this purpose, the control device regulates an electric motor (M) which drives a pump. A phase-gating control circuit (PS), which is driven via a selector switch (RS), is used to feed the electric motor (M). The working range of the selector switch (RS) can be varied via an actuator (VS). Manual operation of the actuator (VS) can be carried out automatically by means of a measuring instrument (ME) which measures the water level (WH). For this purpose, the output signal of the measuring instrument is conducted to the actuator (VS) via a transmitter (SE) and receiver (EE). It is possible by means of this control device to avoid inaccuracies when preselecting the desired effervescent effect via the selector switch (RS). <IMAGE>
