<p>The one piece reel for the Super 8 cine film has a double walled core with the inside wall (2) shaped to fit on the capstans and the outer wall (1) with a cut-out (1a) to feed in the film end. A U-shaped wall (5) next to the entry slot has a retaining tooth (6) to grip the sprocket holes in the film and secure it. The film is threaded into the slot and pressed into the U-shape with any thin implement, so that it drops over the tooth. It is released simply by pulling the free tag at the start of the film, with the tag (F) looped into the space between the walls. The one piece moulding is simple to produce, without any separate clamping element in the centre.</p> |
