<p>An electrophoresis appts. comprises a gel column tube and an elutriation chamber and inlet and outlet lines for conducting a buffer soln. transversely across the tube; the elutriation chamber is a plate of hard, porous material transversely across the pipe axis. An auxiliary inlet pipe for an auxiliary buffer soln. conducts this soln. to the elutriation chamber on the side furthest from the gel column Pref. an additional layer of porous material is located on the side of the elutriation chamber nearest to this auxiliary buffer solution inlet, to provide a higher flow resistance for the bufer soln. than that provided by the elutriation chamber. An easily operated appts. for preparative electrophoresis is provided; it is suitable for either weak or strong gels and constituents possessing either high or low free electrophoretic mobility.</p> |
