<p>Track is for continuous casting plants, where pairs of rolls are mounted side by side. One roll (a) in each pair is located in chocks (a) butting against the chassis and situated between two mountings fixed to the chassis. The other roll (b) is located in chocks (b) which can slide between the mountings, to vary the gap between rolls (a, b); and the cast billet or slab travels through the roll gap. On the end of each pair of mountings is a bracket with bearings for trunnions carrying a work cylinder i.e. so the cylinder can pivot; and the piston rods of each of the two work cylinders is connected by a pivot bolt to a chock (b). Chocks (b) can thus be driven towards or away from chocks (a) to adjust the roll gap to suit the thickness of the prods. being cast. The brackets are pref. forked, the two prongs being used for retaining bolts.</p> |
