<p>A fastener for strongly fastening ski boot bindings to skis, and particularly to fiberglass skis. The fastener includes an upright shank having a threaded upper end and terminating at its lower end in a transverse, outwardly extending flange having at its bottom surface an exterior plug or other material which, when smoothened, is slidable on snow. The fastener is particularly desirable for use in mounting a binding to a ski from which one or more binding screws have been pulled by rugged use. The screw holes are enlarged to form a bore through the thickness of the ski with the bore terminating downwardly in an enlarged section in the bottom, snow-contacting ski layer. The fastener is placed in the bore with its transverse flange fitting within the enlarged terminal end of the bore and with the plug at least partially received therewithin. The ski binding is then oriented on the upper ski surface with a screw hole of the binding aligned with the fastener shank, and a cap is then threaded downwardly upon the binding onto the shank to hold the binding upon the ski. Desirably, the plug at the bottom surface of the ski is smoothed into flush alignment with the bottom ski surface.</p> |
