When attaching or removing the chain from the relevant tyre, the chain is linked up (or uncoupled) on both the outer ring and inner ring using simple hooking and unhooking manoeuvres which can be carried out manually and only on the outermost side of the tyre. Said chain comprises a first and a second lateral chain element, respectively an inner ring (1) and an outer ring (4), these elements being fitted, at their free ends, with mutual hooking elements (2, 3, 5 and 6) which hook together to close the ring, said lateral elements being connected together by a series of transverse elements (7); the second lateral element uncouples at an intermediate point relative to the first lateral element. <IMAGE>
