Carding device having feed roll with card clothing - and worker plate whose position is adjustable w.r.t. feed roll

A feed assembly for a carding machine includes a table over which a fibre lap passes onto a feed roll covered with card clothing. A worker plate having needled segments partially surrounds the feed roll so that as the lap passes around the feed roll, the needled segments cooperate with the card clothing to remove trash from the lap. From the feed roll the lap is transferred to a main carding roll. The position of the worker plate relative to the feed roll is adjustable. The worker plate can be adjusted to produce the most efficient removal of trash with minimum wear.
