<p>Heparin is bonded to polymers contg. a quat. ammonium group in a polar aprotic solvent, the heparination being effected in the preference of water and dimethyl sulphoxide and/or diethyl glycol. Useful as anticoagulants. In an example, a polyurethane contg. 0.583 m.eq./g of tert. N was treated in DMF with CH3I to give 100% yield of quat. N. This was then treated with the Na salt of heparin in water and DMSO giving a polyurethane contg. 16.6% heparin.</p> |
