<p>In melt spinning thermoplastic polymer, to give fibres of a particular molecular weight, the dosing pump is fitted with an inlet and an outlet, with a unit to pass the molten polymer selectively through one or more filters to the pump inlet. There is an arrangement to ensure that, if a filter is out of action, there is no interruption in the feed of molten polymer to the pump. A resistance unit is provided in the flow path to the spinnerette to allow the polymer to pass from the pump to the extruder without filtering. The design ensures that a continuous spinning process is not interrupted in the event of a filter blockage.</p> |
