<p>The device controls the position of the magnetic core or slug of tuning coils in radio receivers. The design provides the required gearing down for manual control of tuning and also provides high precision in positioning the cores. It is intended to prevent overwinding of the turning gear and subsequent displacement of the calibration arrangements. The tuning cores are arranged in a single screened case bolted to the front panel of the radio, the tuning control spindle emerging from its centre. The spindle carries a short threaded section which engages with a rack which in turn drives the core slug via a stiff length of wire. The rack toothed section is terminated in an abrupt step providing a definite stop point.</p> |
