Chamber for explosive forming and welding - has hydraulic jacks to maintain supply of electrode wires to explosive charges

The chamber (1) for explosive forming and welding is mounted on a pedestal and provided with a work table (4). The wire electrodes (7, 8) are pushed towards the explosive charge (6) by hydraulic jacks fitted inside the cylindrical housings (10). The jacks are provided with spring loaded chucks which grip the wire electrodes on the forward stroke but release it on the return stroke. The stroke of the jack is such that the correct length of electrode wire is fed at each operation to replace the amount consumed during the explosion. A nozzle (35) injects a liquid after each explosion in order to neutralise any harmful products of the explosion.
