The structure or form is for the fixed part and the moving part of a variable reluctance system. The system is of the type presenting a minimal permeance Pxo when overlapping of the two parts is zero. Max. permeance Px, is reached when the two parts overlap by a certain amount. The ends of the two parts are machined to form a profile whose contour is designed to reduce the minimal permeance Pxo without unduly affecting maximal permeance Px. The profile being of a rounded form or chamfered form. The teeth of the stator and rotor of the variable reluctance motor have chamfered or rounded profiles.
