<p>The adhesion of the wheels of a vehicle is improved using a system of vehicle ballasting and lowering of its centre of gravity. Along the inside of the wheel rim is a cylinder which contains a bar of lead. This is stabilised during wheel rotation by floats (f) with segments (b) of steel or aluminium. These floats are soldered to the bar, which is immersed in water. There is oil on either side of the floats and there is a third float (q) at the bottom of the wheel. The higher part of the chamber contains compressed air.</p> |
