The process is for assembling and holding together a number of paving stones to form a large laying unit, using a clamping pressure on at least two opposite sides, esp. where there are broken residual connections between the stones. While clamping pressure is being exerted, spacer pieces (25) are removably inserted in the joint gaps (17, 18) running more or less transversely to the direction of pressure. These spacers may be confined to gaps in the upper cross-sectional area of the paving stones (12). A joint gap extending across the width of the laying unit (10) may be fitted with at least two spacer pieces, at an interval apart. The spacers can be in the form of flat iron bars, or similar flat profiles of joint gap width.
|
