Gypsum prodn. from spent lime from desulphurisation plants - by oxidising and converting it to air and steam

Dried line used in desulphurisation plants is converted to gypsum by passing it to an appts. in which oxidn. and conversion take place simultaneously with air and steam. Pref. a carrier is also present, e.g. expanded particle, to increase the surface area of the dried mass.
