Railway signalling system for single track - has passing loops with local signals to indicate occupation or non-occupation of next section and gives control over shunt locations

Trains travelling in opposite directions on a single track railway (10) are enabled to pass each other by an automatically controlled luminous signalling system. The actual passage of trains past each other takes place at shunt locations. Sections of track are selectively enabled by a detector system to control the safe passage of the trains responding to the commands given by signalling devices (5). These indicate the occupation or non-occupation of the next section of the track. The coloured light signals permit the combinations red/yellow, yellow or green facing the driver and red or green behind the driver.
