PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a printer in which defective printing is prevented from being carried out under a state where a correct decision can not be made for defective printing. SOLUTION: When a facsimile data is stored in a receiving memory, a decision is made (S1-S3) whether the detected voltage Voff of a light receiving element is equal to or higher than 1.5V under a state where an LED is turned off. If Voff<1.5V a decision can be made that paper jam or ink empty can not be determined because of intensive external light and a message 'under receiving...' is presented on a liquid crystal display (S5) without starting the print operation. Consequently, a user can be notified that an unprinted receiving data is present. Forced printing is started (S7-S9) when the user operates a start switch. The receiving data is eventually deleted (S11-S13) in response to a reset command. |
