1466455 Si based alloy; anodes for chlorine cells PPG INDUSTRIES Inc 23 Aug 1974 [27 Aug 1973] 37047/74 Headings C7A and C7B A silicon based alloy comprising:- 0À2-2 wt. per cent either N, P, B or Al 1 to less than 50% of a transition element Balance Silicon. with a predominant Si-rich discontinuous phase surrounded by a transition-metal-silicide-rich phase with discrete nodules of a dopant-rich phase, has an electro-conductivity of more than 100 ohmcentimeters<SP>-</SP><SP>1</SP> and is suitable for corrosion resistant electro-conductive elements i.e. anodes in electrolytic chlorine cells. The transition element may be any metal which is soluble in Si, or in which Si is soluble or which forms a silicide in which Si is soluble. Preferred transition metals are Fe, Co, Ni, Cr, Mn or Mo, although other metals are interchangeable. The preferred compositions are Fe 4-14% Co 9-12%, Ni 1-7%, Cr 1-6%, Mn 1-6%, and Mo 5% minimum and the preferred dopant is either Boron or phosphorus. |
