<p>The mechanism comprises a set of cylinders, and works by pressure propagation in mercury. It is suspended in a frame, in which it is held in a vertical position by a catch on the latter, relasing when the setting limit of the mercury in one cylinder or cylinder set is reached. The mechanism, which has thus become top-heavy, rotates and is halted by the catch at the bottom, whereupon the cycle is repeated.</p> |
