A pigment composition and a process for the production of the same wherein an ylidoide compound or a mixture containing the same, after being subjected to provisional chemical microbial or enzymic treatments and, especially in case of ylidoide glycoside, after being subjected to chemical or enzymic hydrolysises to be converted to aglycone, is if necessary reacted under the acidic condition with a compound which has a primary amino group.
