Various embodiments of the present disclosure are directed to a gaming system and method providing a reel-based game and employing an award evaluation for a symbol based on a total quantity of reels in a set of reels each displaying an instance of that symbol and a total quantity of instances of that symbol displayed on the reels of the set.
