Mounting and cooling system for vehicle air-conditioning turbine motor - uses motor envelope forming partial seal diaphragm to create two different air pressure zones

The cooling system is designed for a turbine (3) driven air conditioning electrical motor (4) contained in a housing. The housing forms a cavity (5) in which the electrical motor is fixed. On the motors shaft is a turbine, the turbine being contained in another cell (2) of the housing. A part of the motor envelope is connected to the wall of the housing cavity to form a partial seal. The envelope and cavity thus form a diaphragm between two different pressure zones on either side of the motor. Air circulation is established between the zones through the motor so as to cool it. The motor envelope has slots (11) in it which open out into a chamber in the housing. A channel from the chamber connects with the turbine cell (2) which is at a relatively high pressure.
