The fire-resistant joint is for use on partition panels, makes a vertical joint between abutting panel edges, and comprises a concealed sliding double-dovetail type connection. The panel comprises two parallel vertical facing sheets (4) fixed to a grid frame and is filled with insulating material. At the vertical ends of the panel the terminal frame posts (5) are set back a fixed distance from the edges of the facing sheets (4). Hardwood runners (9), with a dovetailed groove (10) running down each lateral face, fit into the cavity formed by the ends of two abutting panels. Dovetail section rollers (12) mounted on the end posts (5) engage the grooves (10) to secure the assembly.
