The suspended microcapsule contains essentially spherical gas bubbles which are surrounded by a single-shelled, external, liquid membrane phase and which are suspended in a dispersion phase. The liquid membrane phase is essentially non-surface-active, essentially immiscible both with the dispersion phase and with the inner gas phase, and forms an external interface with the dispersion phase, and an internal interface with the trapped gas bubbles. In this microcapsule, the numeric ratio of the thickness of the liquid membrane phase t to the square of the diameter of the external surface of the essentially spherical, single-shelled, external membrane phase d<2> is in the range from 1 x 10<-5>:1 to 1 x 10<-8>:1, if t and d are specified in micrometers. The microcapsules can be used in systems for dispensing trapped gases or for adding components to the trapped gases.
