Electrical discharge generator into strip-line esp. gas laser - has toroidal spark gap, gas tight and semi-circular sealed enclosure set in line

The device generates an electric discharge into a strip line esp. directed at excitation of gas lasers. The generator uses a spark gap allowing repeated use without damage due to short circuits of the line. The strip line (2, 3, 4) conducting surfaces are broken at one point to form an annulus (5). The central area is partly occupies by an electrode (9) forming part of the spark gap. The gap is triggered by an engine spark-plug (17) positioned immediately above it. The gap is enclosed within a gas tight semi-spherical sealed enclosure (10, 15) supported by an external frame (25, 26).
