Mixing apparatus comprises a mixing chamber (1) with an inlet and an outlet, rotary discharge means (6) for the material is arranged at the outlet and a rotary stirrer which has stirring arms (3) projecting radially from a drive shaft (2) is located within the mixing chamber 1. In operation the rotary 9 discharge means is driven directly or indirectly by the stirring arms as the stirrer rotates. The rotary discharge means may be in the form of a vaned or helical wheel, the blades of which are engaged by the stirrer arms to cause rotation. The discharge means may rotate about a vertical or horizontal axis. In an alternative arrangement the arms of the stirrer engage a toothed wheel mounted on the shaft of the rotary discharge means. An eccentric ring member 5 attached to the stirrer aids in the moving of the materials towards the chamber outlet. <IMAGE> |
