New antimycotic agents contain one or more acylated 1-azolyl-2-hydroxybutane derivs. of formula (I) and/or their acid addn. salts and/or metal salt complexes thereof. In the formula A is N or CH; R is alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, alkoxy, alkoxyalkyl, cycloalkyl, haloalkyl, opt. substd. phenyl, phenylalkyl or phenoxyalkyl, alkylamino, dialkylamino, opt. substd. phenylamino, haloalkylamino, alkoxycarbonylamino or alkoxyalkylamino; X is H, halogen or alkylcarbonyloxy; Y is halogen or alkylcarbonyloxy; Z is halogen, alkyl, cycloalkyl, alkoxy, haloalkyl, alkylthio, alkoxycarbonyl, opt. substd. phenyl, phenoxy or phenylalkyl, CN or NO2; and n is 0-5. (I) (which are stated to be new but are not claimed per se) have therapeutically useful antimycotic activity which is better than that of related known cpds. They can be used in human and veterinary medicine for the treatment of dermatomycoses and systemic mycoses.
