Spinning solutions of acid-modified polymers or copolymers of acylonitrile are spun-dyed with quaternary triazoleazoaniline dyes in the form of their tetrafluoroborate salt. The cation of the azo dye is a methyl- or ethyl-quaternised triazolium radical which is methyl- or ethyl-substituted in the 1-position at the nitrogen atom and may be methyl-substituted in the 5-position; the coupling component is an aniline derivative which can be substituted in the benzene ring by halogen, alkyl, alkoxy or acylamino and whose nitrogen atom can be mono- or disubstituted by lower alkyl, aralkyl or aryl groups. The fibres obtained have a deep red shade and high brightness; especially the light fastness, rub fastness, fastness to dry heat setting and pleating, wash fastness and steam fastness are remarkably high. The use of the dye causes only extremely slight staining of the coagulation and drawing baths. The molecular dispersion of the dye in the spinning solutions and filaments has the effect that these are transparent, speck-free and non-matt and rules out any blockage or mechanical wear of the spinneret as occurs with the use of colour pigments. |
