1. Cladding element for roofs and walls of houses in the form of a quadrangular panel (1), simulating on the upper facing surface (2) rows perpendicular to each other of a plurality of interlocked tiles (24) of a traditional shape, said element being provided, on the one hand, with two parallel side grooves (11), which are open on the side of the face (5) of the element opposite to the facing surface (2), which extend all along the side edges of the panel (1) and which have a bottom projecting from the facing surface (2) so as to simulate superposed tiles (24), and, on the other hand, with a rib (4) extending along the upper edge of the panel and projecting from the facing surface (2), as well as with a flange (9) extending along the lower edge of the panel (1) and intended to cover the rib (4) of a second identical element located immediately below said first element, characterized in that the side grooves (11) have a quadrangular section, so that the cladding element may be directly fitted onto and fixed to rafters (12) of a framework of traditional type.
