Collet chuck of two parts requiring only one tube for a complete set, has a threaded tube part (22) releasably coupled to a chuck or nose part (21) having a ring of resiliently connected jaws (30). A compression force applied to an external frusto-conical surface (25) causes the jaws to grip a workpiece located between them. The coupling device (23) provides abutting torque-transmitting surfaces on axial projections on the two parts. These projections also define a channel in which a retaining or coupling ring is accommodated. The tube part does not have to be removed with the chuck part.
