Preventing singles yarn twisting - by worsted yarn spinning with polymerising resin added to lubricant and heat-treatment

In singles yarn prodn. by worsted yarn spinning, a polymerising synthetic resin, (I), is admixed to the lubricant added during the working of the raw material. At the end of the standard spinning process, the finished yarn is heat-treated 10-30 min.at >90 degrees C. A thin polymer film is formed which prevents twisting without impairing fibre properties. The knitted yarn resists distortion on washing or dry-cleaning. Economy of time and labour is achieved by producing a singles yarns of desired count in place of 2 singles yarns having half the count.
