<p>Apparatus for testing the strength of sections of plastics tube and giving the bursting strength has concentric tubes (1, 2, 3), the inner tube (1) holding a piston connected to a tensioning member. Each tube has a closed end, and acts as a piston inside the tube enclosing it. Each tube incorporates inlet and outlet relief valves, and slides inside a sealing ring housed in a recess around the open end of the tube enclosing it. The outermost tube has a valve (IV, VI) for connecting a line to a tank containing water or oil which is drawn successively into the tubes.</p> |
