Plastic pipe flaring tool - in which mandrel filled pipe end is clamped against rotation between notched members whilst flaring tool is applied

A plastics pipe end to be flared is filled with a mandrel and then located between a pair of notched hinged clamping plates retained in the clamping position by a toggle lock. A flaring tools is then screwed onto the mandrel to effect the flaring of the tube end which projects beyond the mandrel. The notches in the plates are not semi-circular in cross-section so that when a pipe end is clamped it is distorted from its round cross-section to an oval cross-section and heavy clamping pressure is brought to bear on the mandrel to prevent it rotating during the flaring operation.
