Inductive linear or rotary motion transducer - uses short-circuit plate extending between arms of U=shaped core

The indctive transducer converts linear or rotary movement into an electrical value. It employs at least one U-shaped ferromagnetic core and a short-circuit plate (14) of electrically conductive but non-magnetically conductive material. The plate is located between the arms (12, 13) of the core (10). The leading edge (15) of the short-circuit plate (14), or its periphery in the case of a rotary movement, is controlled so that it corresponds to the required response characteristic of the transducer. Pref. the curve defined by this contoured edge defines part of an Archimedean signal.
