摘要 1333025 Bonding rubber to metal UNIROYAL Inc 30 March 1972 [5 April 1971] 15012/72 Headings C3E C3P and C3Q [Also in Division B2] Natural and/or synthetic rubber is bonded to reinforcing elements having a metal surface by incorporation in the rubber (a) a halogenated quinone and (b) a condensation product of resorcinol with benzaldehyde or a C 1-4 aliphatic aldehyde. Suitable quinones are chloranil (i.e. tetrachloro-p-benzo-quinone) and 2,3-dichloronaphthaquinone, others also being mentioned, and the preferred condensation product is of resorcinol and acetaldehyde. Various rubbers may be used, those of the examples being natural rubber, nitrile rubber, ethylene / propylene/ ethylidene norbornene copolymer rubber, and a mixture of natural rubber, cis-polybutadiene and oil-extended SBR. These rubbers, which contain conventional additives such as carbon black, processing oils, amine antioxidants, pine tar, and vulcanizing agents, are joined to stainless steel wire or brass plated steel wire. The coated wire may be used in tyre assemblies.
