PURPOSE:To prevent deterioration of color forming performance of a coupler during storage of a photosensitive material, by adding a specified heterocyclic compound as a desensitization preventing agent to a silver halide emulsion layer containing a two- equivalent coupler and a development inhibitor releasing agent. CONSTITUTION:A heterocyclic compound having a 5- or 6-membered ring composed of imino and carbonyl groups as constituents, such as 4-methyl-2-pyrrolydone or 5-benzoyl-4-methyl-2-imidazolone, is added in an amount of about 0.005 to 10, preferably 0.01 to 2 moles per mole of coupler to a silver halide emulsion layer or an adjacent hydrophilic colloid later containing a two-equivalent coupler and a compound represented by formula I or II in which Z is a nonmetallic atomic group needed to form a ring; Y is a group for forming a triazole or mercapto compound having development inhibiting action; R is alkyl, aryl, or a heterocyclic group; and X1 is H or halogen; and X2 is halogen or a heterocyclic group. |
