Flow diversion between two chromatograph columns - using pressure differential system with pressure reducers on carrier gas mounted either side of capillary connection

Changeover device is a double branched with a capillary connection entering two lines between two chromatograph columns. The changeover is made without a value in the line between the chromatograph. The connector has two chambers into which the lines lead and between which the capillaries lead. These chambers have inlet connected to the carrier gas supply and outlets connected to detectors via flow restrictors. The pressure supply of carrier gas to the first chamber comes via needle valves and is taken downstream of the main pressure reducer. The supply to the second chamber is taken upstream of the main pressure reducer through a second pressure reducer. In this way when the supply is opened to the second chamber, flow to the second coil is halted, if the pressure in the first chamber is low. Used for controlling and changing over flow between two chromatographic columns. Gives a switch over system valid for all types of column esp. in process gas chromatography.
