<p>NEW MATERIAL:DC-38-A (the compound of the formula) and DC-38-B having the following characteristics: Elemental analysis H 5.23%, C 65.69%; molecular weight, 494; molecular formula, C27H26O9; melting point, 254+ or -2 deg.C (decomposition); fluorescent spectrum (excitation light; 428nm), 494nm; specific rotation, [alpha]D<20>= -246+ or -10 deg. (c=0.5, dimethylsulfoxide). USE:Germicide, anti-tumor agent. PROCESS:The DC-38-A substance is prepared by culturing Streptomyces gilvotanareus 0-7 (FERM-P No.4649), at 25-40 deg.C, pref. 28-38 deg.C, and pH4-10, pref. 6-8, in a liquid medium, treating the cultured medium with a nonionic porous resin, etc. to adsorb the objective substance, and purifying the substance, the DC- 38-A can be converted to DC-38-B by heating in an aqueous acetone solution in the presence of dilute mineral acid.</p> |
