<p>PURPOSE:To increase the reaction speed, to miniaturize an apparatus, to simplify attendant installations and to reduce the amount of sludge by contacting the malodor subestance containing gas to be treated with an acidic aqueous solution of alkali permanganate of the pH below 3. CONSTITUTION:For example, the bad smell substance containing gas containing an ammonia 100ppm, a hydrogen sulfide 100ppm, trimethylamine 50ppm, methylmercaptan 50ppm and dimethyl sulfide 10ppm obtained by diluting a reagent and a commercial gas by air is introduced at a rate of 6Nl/min into the tower bottom of an absorbing tower (a filled tower with a diameter 50mm and a height 420mm, racirings of a diamer 5mm is filled) and an absorbing solution (pH about 1) comprising potassium permanganate 10g/l and sulphuric acid 5g/l is introduced at the rate of 100ml/min into the top portion of the tower to contact countercurrently. Each component in the treated gas is lowered to below 0.05ppm and substantially deodorized.</p> |
