<p>The invention relates to a method and a device for separating surplus material, in particular for mechanised separating of casting residues, comprising runner gate, deadhead, riser and rising head, from the castings or from units comprising castings, respectively, by means of a thermal separating method, preferably plasma cutting. The method is characterised in that the deadhead 2 of the casting 6 or the unit comprising castings, respectively, and a centring dog 3 and possibly a further centring element 4, are clamped tightly fitting in retainer elements 10, 11 which have corresponding geometrical form and which are carried on a device; that said device is subsequently carried into the working area of a thermal cutting machine; that it is kept in the same position all the time in said area; and that it is carried out again from the working area following finished automatic thermal cutting process for removing of the castings 6 and the casting residues of the device, said items now being separated from each other. The device according to the invention is characterised in that a plate 13, movable on a conventional conveyor belt in a manner known per se, through a bearing 12 known per se carries a supporting plate 9 which is provided with asymmetrically arranged retainer elements 10, 11 for retaining the centring elements 2, 3, 4 occurring in runner gate and deadhead. <IMAGE></p> |
